Prayer is an incredible privilege – one that God invites all his children to participate in. It’s designed to be a delight too – how beautiful it is to enjoy the relationship we have with the Lord who loves us so much. It’s also a necessity – speaking with the King of all things about his work in his people, for the good of his church and the glory of his Son, is what we need to do if we are truly to follow our Good Shepherd into the future and serve him faithfully day by day.
Sometimes, though, it can be tricky to know what to pray. There are so many options! So, here are a few ways you can pray for the ministry of BCUK. We have been so blessed by the Lord in the past year, we are looking forward to seeing how he chooses to answer your prayers in the year ahead.
You can find prayer items below for each day of next week. You can also download the image below with them all on, or look out for daily posts on our social media channels:
Monday 5th January: Faithful team
Pray for BCUK, that Steve Midgley, the wider leadership team and all those who serve God within the organisation will be rooted in love, faithful to God’s word, and full of integrity and humility.
Tuesday 6th January: Flourishing conference
Pray for the national conference on Identity in Keswick (June 8-10) that the speakers, including Sam Allberry, would prepare prayerfully, and pray the event will be a time of great encouragement and equipping for all who attend.
Wednesday 7th January: Relevant resources
Pray for the production of Helen Thorne-Allenson’s new book, A Church that Cares – and our web-based resources written by staff and volunteers – that they will be a real blessing to the local church, equipping the saints for conversational ministry.
Thursday 8th January: Growing students
Praise the Lord for the 300 Certificate Programme students, 90 Short Course students and various book group participants studying with BCUK this term. Pray they, with the help of our tutors, graders and administrators, will all grow in the knowledge and love of God.
Friday 9th January: New opportunities
Pray for wisdom for Andrew Collins and the wider Counselling Ministry team that they will produce resources and courses that help vocational biblical counsellors and more advanced carers to flourish in ministry.
Saturday 10th January: Financial health
Praise the Lord for his generous provision for BCUK – thank God for all those who have given to support this ministry. Pray that the Lord will continue to raise up people to give regularly to BCUK’s vision of enabling churches to speak hope into everyday life.
Sunday 11th January: Thriving churches
Thank the Lord for each church that has a church-based intern, or is soon to welcome a BCUK speaker, that the congregations there will continue to thrive and grow as they seek to speak the truth in love to one another.
