The four weeks running up to Christmas were originally a time to remember the second coming of Jesus. It was a time of reflection and repentance, a time when we were to remember the fallenness of the world – the fallenness of our hearts – and remember our need of a Saviour.
These devotions help us to acknowledge the dark shadows of life while at the same time anticipating Jesus, “the true light who gives light to everyone…coming into the world” (John 1:9).
For each of the four weeks of Advent, there are things to read, things to reflect on, things to write, and things to pray.
