DONATIONS

Your gift from the USA

How to give effectively

We are thankful to God for the sacrificial giving of those who partner with us and ask if you would consider donating to BCUK and help fuel our ministry at this strategic time in the UK.

If you would like to make a donation from the USA there are various options outlined below.

For more information on any of them, please contact our Director of Finance & Operations here.

If you are based in the USA you can:

Make a non-tax-deductible donation to BCUK using a credit card. The donation is received immediately and is not subject to any administration fee, other than any charges you may incur by your credit card provider in making an international payment.

View our featured priority funds below, or you can donate to the BCUK general fund here.

Make a tax-deductible donation to CAF America, a US public charity, which then supports projects funded by BCUK. The donation is fully tax-deductible for federal estate and tax gift purposes if it meets the applicable provisions of the United States Internal Revenue Code.

There are various options for how the gift is made depending on whether it is a one-off sum or regular giving, and whether you pay tax in the UK as well as the US. Fees also apply. BCUK is a validated CAF America grantee partner (quote our UK Charity Commission number 1164965).

Visit the CAF America website or email them for more information.

Featured Priorities:

Creating new courses

Developing four new courses, an Intermediate Skills Day and an Advanced Skills Training Week.
£129,000  /  $173,000

These courses begin to bring the riches of biblical counselling wisdom into fresh areas for a UK audience. Our vision is for our training to equip churches and counsellors for Christ-centred, theologically faithful conversations and counsel in relationships, everyday problems and those struggles we face as embodied people.

Donations to this fund will enable the creation of five new courses, an Intermediate Skills Day and a week-long Advanced Skills Training.

The cost of developing each course is:

Intermediate level in Conversational Ministry:

  • Relationships in Life and Church – £26,000
  • Helping Everyday Problems – £26,000
  • Intermediate Skills Day – £5,000

Advanced level in Theology for Biblical Counselling:

  • Counselling Embodied Souls – £28,000
  • Theology for Counselling – £28,000

Advanced level in Skills for Biblical Counselling:

  • Advanced Skills Training – £16,000

Funding the creation of one of these courses will make a significant impact on the lives of hundreds of students, and those they minister to, for years to come.

Supporting pastors

Devoting senior ministry staff time to resourcing and refreshing pastors with tools for reflection.
£65,000  /  $87,000 per year

The Apostle Paul compares the pastor to a disciplined athlete, a hard-working farmer, a focussed soldier (2 Tim 2: 3-6) – pastoral ministry has always been demanding. Our contemporary society is bringing many new demands and new expectations, and these are leaving many pastors in the UK feeling increasingly ill-equipped and overwhelmed. There is a growing crisis of recruitment, retention and burn out among pastors.

We want to equip and support pastors in their ministry in ways that both nourishes their own discipleship and helps them care well for the church communities they serve.

Over the next three years we want to expand our support to church pastors through:

  • Resourcing: Providing pastors with resources both for personal growth and ministry activities
  • Refreshing: Blessing pastors through sabbatical courses that fuel their thinking and encourage them in their walk with the Lord
  • Reflecting: Creating opportunities for pastors to reflect on their pastoral care structures and practices.

Donations to this fund will be used to create, develop and implement these initiatives.

This is a pressing need. To that end, our goal is to raise annual donation income by £65,000 per year to cover the costs of a senior ministry staff member, so we can devote significantly more time to this important area.

Growing Interns

Funding 20 interns to help grow wise pastoral care in local churches.
£70,000  /  $94,000

We partner with local churches across the UK (approximately 20 each year) by delivering a 2-year training and development scheme for graduates of the BCUK Certificate Programme. Graduates with a gifting in biblical counselling partner with their church leadership to identify how the church can embed a rich biblical counselling framework for their pastoral ministries.

Churches range from large city-centre congregations to small church plants in areas of significant deprivation. All need the gospel to speak into their lives. Interns act as catalysts for growth in wise counsel across the whole church family.

We are receiving an increasing number of applications from churches located in, or ministering to, areas of deprivation. Often these Interns need additional grants to fund their placements as the church lacks the funds to pay them.

The cost to BCUK of funding the 2-year training scheme for one Intern is around £14,000. This can increase to £28,000 for churches located in areas of significant deprivation, reflecting the grants we provide.

Through this fund we also want to develop the training and support provided to the mentors of each Intern as investing in them leads to higher quality mentoring for the Intern.

Donations to this fund will be used to:

  • Make grants to local churches who would otherwise not be able to afford an Intern.
  • Provide bespoke training to Interns in their conversational skills
  • Develop the training and support provided to mentors of the Interns
  • Deliver and administer the Intern Scheme over the next five years.

Resourcing churches

Producing accessible books, devotions, videos, and more - to equip churches to care well.
£80,000  /  $107,000

We are developing a suite of resources to help pastors and congregation members:

  • Grow a culture of Christ-centred care within the local church
  • Address common pastoral struggles in a wise, biblical and compassionate manner

Church leaders are requesting short, accessible, Bible-centred resources that help churches take small steps towards understanding people’s struggles and nurturing them well. In response, we are looking to produce short books, courses, and devotions as well as downloadable factsheets, articles and videos to equip local congregations on topics as diverse as structuring pastoral care; handling Scripture wisely in conversation; helping people navigate the menopause; responding to trauma; walking alongside those struggling with OCD, and much more.

£100 could cover the cost of writing and editing a short factsheet

£500 could cover the cost of typesetting one short course

£1,000 could cover the cost of developing a set of devotions from start to finish

£5,000 could cover the cost of researching and writing a short book

£10,000 could cover the cost of writing, filming and distributing a short course

In total we are looking to raise £80,000 to fund the next phase of our resource development plan. Your gospel-partnership could make a difference to the growth of many churches here in the UK.
