Book Groups

Reading good books is often a great way to grow in our ability to walk alongside others well. Reading them together is a wonderful opportunity to encourage each other as we learn - and think about how to apply what we are learning to our local contexts. To that end, BCUK offers a range of online book groups across the year.

The books we choose to discuss are books that we think are worth reading but we do not necessarily endorse every aspect of the text. Part of learning together is learning to think wisely about what we read.

Who can join?

Our aim is to make these groups as accessible as possible. All our groups are open to everyone but some book groups will be particularly suitable for those with greater levels of ministry experience.

What’s the cost?

The groups are free but do require you to obtain a copy of the book under discussion and be willing to read the relevant chapters prior to each discussion.

How to join

To register, complete the form below, before the start of the group you are registering for.

Once you have signed up you will receive a Zoom link and schedule of reading. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Theological Foundations for Counseling
by J. V. Fesko

Does theology help us to understand how God speaks to all of the complexity of life? How does the Bible relate to psychology? Adopting an approach based on reformed theology but also attending to extra-biblical information from the world of psychology, J.V. Fesko’s Theological Foundations for Counseling provides perspectives on these questions that should lead to stimulating discussion.

The Art of Disagreeing
by Gavin Ortlund

Christians don’t find it easy to disagree. This little book will only take a few hours to read and speaks into that challenge in five winsome chapters. Grow in kindness, courage, and love, and learn how to honour Jesus better in moments of conflict.
